Peggy

I started Bikram yoga in August, 2010, right here in St. Charles at Bent Dog Yoga and Pilates, (formerly known as Bikram Yoga St. Charles).

My son had gotten engaged and I wanted to get in “shape” for his wedding. Prior to 2010, I had tried many other workout regiments—running, aerobics, boot camps, women’s circuit training, etc.—but it was hot yoga that worked the best and stuck!

I immediately felt healthy, invigorated, and challenged! And best of all, unlike other physical activities, yoga relieved my aches and pains (ie. frozen shoulder) instead of aggravating them. Bikram yoga improves one’s heart health, balance, and core strength.

After putting my own wants on the back burner due to raising 3 kids and teaching high school for 34 years, I retired. For the next chapter of my life, I decided to blend my love of Bikram yoga with my passion for teaching and completed Bikram teacher training in the spring, 2013. Since then, I have also completed the Inferno Hot Pilates and YinCore Yoga training.

One of the things that I love the most about Bikram Yoga, is that right about the time I feel like I’ve got this 26+2 workout mastered, it humbles me. That’s what keeps me coming back; every day is different! And besides, where else can you get a meditative workout, sauna, and facial all at the same time!
