Kathy
I grew up on a working dairy farm and know the meaning of hard work. We still live on a farm in Sycamore, IL. I married my college love and we have three children.
I have always enjoyed sweating and during high school years I would go run around our country block(which was 5 miles) in the summer during the hottest part of the day for this reason.
I became interested in improving my health after gaining weight in college and changed my eating habits. I added exercise and lost 40 pounds. I continued this practice after watching both my parents neglect their health and leave this earth too early. This lead me to become interested in more natural alternatives, during times it was not embraced.
I have always enjoyed a challenge and become more motivated when someone tells me I cannot achieve something. I have used it to set a goal and figure out how to achieve it.
I took my first class Bikram class in June of 2009 with Doug, both the challenge and the sweat rolling off me, had me hooked. I had currently returned to school and was in the nursing program to become an alternative nurse. I totally changed my focus to becoming a certified Bikram yoga instructor.
I completed my 9 week training in Las Vegas in June of 2010. I also became a certified cancer specialist in 2013. Doug and Agata brought Gabby Walters to the studio for Hot Inferno Pilates training in April 2014.
I thought I was “fit,” I had a huge ego check, and was so excited to practice and teach it to others. I completed the training and began teaching in 2014, becoming certified in 2016. I also became certified as a Yin instructor in September of 2016.
I enjoy teaching both yoga and pilates and bring my belief that anyone can do anything they set their minds to achieving. I also truly believe no matter what your fitness level or flexibility, you can benefit and improve both. I also am so grateful for the opportunity to meet such inspiring students as I believe you meet people for you to change their life, or you are the one that will change theirs.
I can honestly say that I know that I have learned more from the students and they have changed mine.
